An early-morning fire damaged a building that houses an insurance agency and an auto shop in Mountlake Terrace.
Firefighters were dispatched after police reported smoke coming from a two-level building in the 21700 block of Highway 99 about 1:30 a.m., Sunday, May 18.
“There was smoke throughout the building when firefighters arrived,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1, which provides fire service in the City of Mountlake Terrace.
Firefighters from Fire District 1, Lynnwood and Shoreline responded to the fire. It took about 20 minutes for crews to locate and extinguish a small fire on the lower level of the building, which houses the auto shop. No one was inside the building at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.
Most of the fire damage was contained to the lower level, but there is smoke damage throughout the building. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
