Eight schools receive ‘NFL Fuel Up to Play 60!’ grants


nflEight schools in the Edmonds District have received a total grant of $32,000 from the NFL Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

Each school will receive $4,000 to purchase physical education and kitchen equipment to promote activity and nutrition.

The participating schools are:

  • Cedar Valley Community School
  • Hazelwood Elementary
  • Meadowdale Elementary
  • Mountlake Terrace Elementary
  • Oak Heights Elementary
  • Sherwood Elementary
  • Westgate Elementary
  • Brier Terrace Middle School

The District is featuring a breakfast promotion for five consecutive Wednesdays beginning March 4 and participating students will be eligible to win iTunes gift cards and iPad minis.

The grant money comes from the Washington State Dairy Farmers. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program founded by the National Dairy Council and NFL, in collaboration with USDA, that empowers students to take charge in making small, everyday changes at school. Students can win prizes for choosing good-for-you foods and getting active for at least 60 minutes every day.
