Edmonds Public Schools Foundation Street Strut gets new look, name

The Edmonds Public Schools Foundation’s popular Street Strut 5k race is getting a brand-new look and name. The event, scheduled this year for Oct. 13, is now called the Celebrate Schools 5k Run/Walk, and will be at Alderwood Mall.

According to Foundation Executive Director Deb Anderson, the Celebrate Schools 5k Walk/Run still has the same look and feel as the old strut – timed race, fun crowds, entertaining bands, cheer squads , of course, the popsicle truck — and it still benefits Edmonds School District teachers and students. The main difference is the name and the faster Alderwood Mall course.

As always, event proceeds will be returned to participating Edmonds School District teachers and students in the form of classroom grants.

“We’re excited that Alderwood Mall and General Growth Properties invited us to share in raising funds for the district and our schools,” said Foundation Board President Christi Flynn. “We have a shared vision and passion for directly impacting the quality of a child’s education. Moving the race to Alderwood Mall takes us back to our roots – where our first fundraising run/walk started.“  In addition, the Celebrate Schools name “really captures what the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation is all about,” she added.

Race and event details can be found on the foundation website.
