The City of Mountlake Terrace has begun advertising for a vendor to lease and manage the community clubhouse at the former Ballinger Lake golf course.
The city has placed ads in the Daily Journal of Commerce and the Herald newspaper seeking parties to submit proposals for managing the clubhouse building. Interested applicants have until 5 p.m. on May 3 to submit their preliminary proposal to city officials.
The clubhouse building opened for use in 1989 with part of the facility being used primarily for golf course operations (pro shop and concessions). The building includes a large hall with seating for 125; city officials hope new vendors can rent out the Lakeview Room space for wedding receptions, birthday parties and other private functions, in addition to being made available for city and community events.
The golf course was shut down in November 2012 after Hardy Golf Inc. ceased operations; the 42 acres are being transformed into a passive park and environmental sanctuary. The city hopes to open the park space to the public later this year.
