The City of Mountlake Terrace has hired Steve Osguthorpe as the city’s new Community and Economic Development (CED) Director. Osguthorpe, who is currently serving as Community Development Director for the City of Yakima, will start his CED position with Mountlake Terrace on June 30.
“After an extensive interview process, Osguthorpe was the top candidate that I believe can take the city of the future to the next level,” said Fisher.
Osguthorpe brings years of experience in Comprehensive Planning, management, implementing Washington State Land Use Law, community design, and excellent customer service. He served as Planning and Housing Director in Ames, Iowa for six years, and Planning and Building Manager for Gig Harbor for ten years.
“Mountlake Terrace is ideally situated to take on the region’s next wave of growth and the city has done all the right things to work the energy of that growth in the right direction,” said Osguthorpe. “The city’s town center plan, design standards and planned improvements will ensure both quality development and economic vitality. That is an exciting foundation to build upon and I’m looking forward to being part of that activity,”
Osguthorpe earned his bachelor of science degree in Urban Planning in 1988 and bachelor of science degree in economics in 1990 from the University of Utah.
Osguthorpe fills the position vacated earlier this year by Shane Hope, who left to take the position of Development Services Director for the City of Edmonds.
