The City of Mountlake Terrace was awarded a $75,000 grant for building a therapy pool at the Recreation Pavilion from The Verdant Health Commission Building Healthy Communities Fund.
“The new therapy pool will be built in the same location and with the same basic footprint as the current 20-year-old hot tub, which has reached the end of its lifespan,” said Mountlake Terrace Recreation Manager Jeff Betz. “It is expected to open sometime in 2014.”
New decking that will offer better access for people with mobility problems will be installed around the pool. The new therapy pool will be made available for physical therapists for their rehabilitation of patients, drop-in customers and for fitness classes.
The Verdant Health Commission grants funds for health and well-being programs throughout Public Hospital District No. 2, which covers the communities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Woodway and portions of Bothell and unincorporated Snohomish County.
