One of Brier’s newest parks will get a picnic plaza, a walking/bike path and new play equipment outlined in a master plan for the public space that is expected to get approval by the Brier City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Mountain View Park, a small neighborhood park at 225th Place Southwest and 28th Place West, sits in the middle of the quickly-expanding Wynbrook neighborhood in Brier. About 30 homes have been sold since development of the area began in 2014; new construction is expected to add about 30 more homes to the neighborhood.
Brier city officials have been working with a consultant, the Wynbrook Home Owners Association and neighboring residents this year on drafting a master plan for the .43 acre park. The Brier Parks and Recreation Board approved a draft plan earlier this month and is recommending the city council approve it on Tuesday.
A more detailed plan for the site will be drawn up following Tuesday’s council action.
While the Mountain View Park master plan is expected get endorsed by the city council, work at the park will have to wait until money is budgeted for the project.
“I am planning to include in the 2017 budget some funds to further additional development on this site,” Brier Mayor Bob Colinas said.
Tuesday’s Brier City Council meeting is set for 7 p.m. at Brier City Hall.
