After more than two months of preparation, the Mountlake Terrace Third of July Celebration at Ballinger Park is just one day away.
Festivities begin at 7 p.m. and include food, live music, family games, a pie eating contest and, of course, fireworks after it gets dark.
The parking lot at Ballinger Park, located at 23000 Lakeview Dr., is expected to fill up early. Shuttle service will be available to Ballinger Park from the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center, located at 6001 236th St. SW., beginning at 5 p.m.
The event is hosted by the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation, the charitable arm of the local burger restaurant Red Onion Burgers.
“We’re excited,” Seaun Richards, Mountlake Terrace city councilmember andfounder of the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation, said. “The city has really stepped up to the plate to pull this together.”
Richards said the company putting on the fireworks show is the same one that does the show over Lake Union in Seattle on July 4.
Alcohol and pets are prohibited. Bags are subject to search.
Mountlake Terrace Police will be patrolling Lake View Drive and surrounding streets to make sure vehicles aren’t stopped on the roads to watch fireworks, or blocking traffic while waiting for parking spaces to open up.
“We want everyone to be patient and don’t stop. Keep moving,” Richards said.
