In a crucial 3A Wesco League soccer match, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks came from behind and defeated the visiting Oak Harbor Wildcats 4-3 Monday at Edmonds Stadium.
With the victory, the Hawks took a big step towards earning a spot in the District 1 3A Boys Soccer Tournament that begins on Saturday, May 7.
Terrace scored twice in the final 15 minutes to steal the win away from the Wildcats on Monday. In the 65th minute, the Hawks’ Gavin Scott turned on a loose ball ten yards out from the Oak Harbor goal and rocketed a shot into the upper right corner to tie the match at 3-3. Then in the game’s final minute, Bobby Stoyanov beat three Wildcat defenders and scorched a low shot past Oak Harbor goalkeeper Jared Hoyt for the game-winner.
Stoyanov had also gotten the scoring onslaught started Monday when he recorded the game’s opening goal two minutes in.
Seeding for the boys soccer postseason district tourney will be set following the final regular season matches for Wesco League teams on Wednesday, May 4. Terrace will close their regular season at Shoreline Stadium against the Shorecrest Scots.
